TRIBUTE BANDS:
MUSICAL GROUPS THAT IMITATE THE LOOK AND SOUND OF CLASSIC ROCK LEGENDS I.E.
LED ZEPPELIN, THE BEATLES, THE WHO, PINK FLOYD....
Tribute bands are serious business nowadays. In the past they were kind of a novelty. But today they're big. Why? Well, some of the legendary groups are no longer around or in their original configuration from their heydey. Some members have died or the bands broke up... and the public misses them. Tribute bands fill the void...so much so that it's big business in some respects.
Some of the bigger names like "The Atomic Punks" (Van Halen) and "Wild Child" (The Doors) can get anywhere between $5,000 to $20,000 per appearance... And they tour the world too!
Music Connection magazine said there are hundreds, maybe thousands of tribute bands out there.... most of them in L.A.
Some of the places where they play often are Paladino's in Tarzana /on Reseda Blvd., and at 14 Below in Santa Monica on 14th Street.
